Questions parents ask

Is online tutoring as good as face-to-face tutoring?

For most children, yes, when the teacher is good. A live online lesson is still a real teacher and a real conversation: the teacher sees and hears your child, explains on a shared whiteboard and adapts as they go. Many children are more relaxed learning from home, there is no travel, and you can choose from far more teachers than live nearby.

What age can children start online tuition?

Our teachers support children from primary school (KS1 and KS2) through KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level and IB. Younger children usually do best with shorter, lively lessons and a parent nearby for the first sessions.

How many lessons a week does my child need?

Most children make steady progress with one lesson a week, kept up over a term. Two a week can help before exams or to close a bigger gap quickly. Your teacher will suggest what fits after the first lessons.

How much does online tuition cost?

Each teacher sets their own price, shown clearly on their profile before you book. You can book single lessons, save with a lesson package, or book weekly lessons. Payments are taken securely by Stripe, with no hidden fees.

How are your teachers checked?

Every teacher goes through our verification before joining: identity, qualifications, safeguarding requirements and a police check (enhanced DBS for UK teachers where applicable). Applications are reviewed one by one, by hand.

Are lessons safe for my child?

Lessons take place only in our secure online classroom, communication stays on the platform, and contact details are not shared between families and teachers. Every lesson is recorded for safeguarding, stored securely and deleted after 30 days unless needed for a safeguarding or legal reason.

What do we need for an online lesson?

A laptop, desktop or tablet with a camera, microphone and a reliable internet connection, and a quiet place to work. The classroom runs in the web browser, so there is nothing to install. Headphones help.

Can you help children with SEND, dyslexia or ADHD?

Yes. Many of our teachers have experience supporting children with SEND, dyslexia, ADHD, autism, anxiety and other additional needs, and show it on their profiles. Lessons go at your child's pace.

Can we try a teacher before committing?

You can message any teacher free of charge before you book, and you can book a single lesson first. There are no long-term contracts, and you can change teacher at any time.

How will I know if lessons are working?

After each lesson the teacher adds notes on what was covered, how it went and what to practise next. You see these, with homework and progress, in your parent dashboard.

Can I cancel or move a lesson?

Yes. Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice. See our cancellation and refund policy for full details.

Do you offer group lessons?

Yes. As well as 1-to-1 lessons, some teachers run small group lessons and live courses, which can be a more affordable way to learn with others at the same level.
